Cat Command for construction allows operators to run Cat equipment from outside the cab. Whether you’re working on an unstable slope, operating near a demolition zone or handling hazardous materials, Cat Command puts the operator in a safe, controlled environment while maintaining the same precision and machine response they’d have from inside the cab.

Two core capabilities define the system. The first is remote control operation — real-time, direct control of a Cat remote control dozer, excavator or wheel loader from a safe distance, with the same feel and responsiveness as traditional operation. The second is semi-autonomous compaction control, which automates soil compaction passes to deliver consistent, repeatable results regardless of operator experience.

What sets Cat Command apart from aftermarket alternatives is its deep factory integration. The system is fully embedded in the machine’s electronic and hydraulic systems, giving remote operators access to the same advanced technologies they rely on in the cab — including Grade Assist, Swing Assist and E-Fence. Compatible equipment includes Cat dozers, soil compactors and a remote control excavator system available on many models.

Cat Command Systems: Two Options for Any Application

Holt of California’s technology team works with construction customers to identify the Cat Command configuration that fits their fleet and application. There are two systems to choose from.

The Command Console is the portable, line-of-sight option. Worn on a shoulder harness, it lets operators control a single machine from up to 400 meters (437 yards) away while maintaining direct visual contact with the equipment. No dedicated on-site communications infrastructure is required, making it the right choice for short-term, temporary or emergency applications.

Built-in safety features automatically stop all machine movement if communication is lost or the console tilts more than 45 degrees from its normal operating position. The machine also never operates without an operator in control of the system.

For longer-term or more complex remote operations, the Command Station delivers a full virtual cab experience. Operators work from a comfortable indoor seat with familiar joystick and foot pedal controls, machine displays and multiple live camera feeds.

One skilled operator can manage multiple Command-ready machines from a single station, and the elimination of vibration, noise and exposure to rough terrain means longer, more productive work periods with significantly less fatigue.
