Holt of California has a number of core values, but the one that means the most to me is honesty and integrity. We accountants like that. The company makes sure that they manage their assets and do it right. I’ve been here for seven years and because Holt of California has such as large product line, I get to do a little bit of everything that I wouldn’t get at other places. We have great retirement benefits, a top tier 401k plan. Upper management wants to do everything they can to make employees happy.

I’m a territory manager in our Earth Moving Division and have been with the company for 23 years. Holt of California is a company that allows you to move up, and that’s what happened to me. I started out in the main shop sweeping floors and emptying the trash, but I’ve been able to move up because I wanted something more and I had people believing in me. I also appreciate the family atmosphere. Our executives have an open-door policy and I can go in and talk to them and any problems are addressed instantly. Holt has been an awesome place to work.

If you show drive and initiative and good teamwork skills, Holt of California does a lot of promoting from within. That’s what happened to me. I came in almost four years ago as a utility person but within a short time I was promoted to mechanic and now I’m a lead mechanic, overseeing my team’s training and their work. We’ve got almost 40 guys in our shop and I really appreciate their teamwork. I also appreciate Holt of California commitment to make sure we all have what we need to complete a task. Holt of California is more of a career than a job. There are lots of paths you can take to work your way up. I’ve worked in a lot of other places where I haven’t had that opportunity.

I’ve been a network support technician at Holt of California for 2½ years, providing hardware and software support to our employees. This is my first full-time job out of college. I went to the University of the Pacific and had an internship here. They gave me a flexible schedule while I was finishing up school and when I graduated my manager came to me and said she wanted to bring me on full-time. At other part-time jobs I’ve had, I felt like a cog in a wheel, but here you get training and they make you feel like you’re part of the team. I’ve already started managing some projects and I see myself taking on more advanced projects in the years to come. Holt of California likes to stay current on technology and one really great part of the job is that anyone – even an intern – can bring up new ideas and suggest new ways of doing things. There hasn’t been a day yet that I have regretted coming to work.
